Job Summary
The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) is a defined benefit (DB) pension plan that is dedicated to providing a secure retirement income to more than 478,000 members in Ontario’s healthcare sector. More than 700 employers across the province offer HOOPP to their employees.
HOOPP’s Finance division is responsible for a number of critical functions at HOOPP, including our controller and accounting functions, administration of investments and other financial transactions, and transforming data into relevant information required for decision making and meeting regulatory requirements, in support of both internal and external stakeholders.
Our Finance Division is looking for an Intern to join our dynamic and rewarding division at HOOPP. If you’re looking for a rewarding opportunity, we encourage students currently enrolled in a post-secondary program and have a keen interest in Finance and Accounting to consider joining our team.
What you will do:
Assist the manager in designing and testing business processes on new investment products and strategies
Create and maintain up-to-date documentation in MS OneNote of new business processes & procedures and investment products
Automate business processes using Python, Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate and RPA
Create process flow diagram and presentation slides using Microsoft Visio and PowerPoint
Provide support for Investment Operations projects
Researching information, maintaining spreadsheets and databases
Other administration duties (i.e. filing, take meeting minutes, etc.) as requested
Any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to assist managers or team members.
What you will bring:
Enrolled in a University program with a focus in business, accounting, finance, math, actuarial science or computer science
Previous work experience (full time or co-op)
Strong computer skills including Python, Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, Excel, VBA and OneNote
Strong problem-solving skills
Ability to multi-task and prioritize, strong organizational and time management skills
Ability to meet tight deadlines and to manage conflicting priorities.
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and completeness
Excellent interpersonal skills to facilitate interaction with senior staff and external counterparties
Strong analytical, statistical and mathematical skills
Excellent communication both written and verbal
Share HOOPP’s core values: accountable, compassionate, and trustworthy
Knowledge in financial products (e.g. equities, bonds, derivatives) will be an asset
The expected hourly rate range for this role is $21.00 to $31.00
The actual hourly rate offered to the successful candidate may vary based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, individual's expertise and level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered.
