We are seeking an experienced Environment & Risk Manager
who is responsible for ensuring environmental stewardship and regulatory
compliance while managing overall company risk and ensuring operational and
emergency response readiness. As a key member of the management team, drives
the development and implementation of environmental policies and procedures
within the company’s management system. Supports the ongoing maintenance and
continuous improvement of the organization’s emergency preparedness and crisis
management plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and monitor company-wide
environmental policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with domestic and international
environmental regulations.
- Oversee emissions, waste, ballast management, and
reporting (e.g., CII, SEEMP3).
- Lead Green Marine program initiatives and manage
environmental audits.
- Develop, maintain, and implement operational and
emergency response plans.
- Lead the Integrated Command System (ICS) and First Notice
Operations (FNO) programs.
- Chair the Drill Committee and coordinate emergency
preparedness exercises.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and regulatory
authorities to support environmental and risk initiatives.
- Provide leadership in compliance, training, and
continuous improvement programs.
- Assist Engineering in strategic planning and
decision-making related to environmental and operational risk.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, engineering,
or related field (or equivalent experience).
- At least five years of experience in environmental
management, preferably in the maritime or transportation industry.
- Knowledge of marine environmental regulations, ISO14001,
and risk management frameworks.
- Risk and emergency management experience, education, and
training a strong asset.
- Strong technical writing, analytical, organizational, and
project management skills.
- Leadership experience and ability to work independently
with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage committees and large groups on calls
and meetings. Strong communication
skills
- Flexibility to travel and work outside regular hours,
including overnight travel.
Working Conditions:
- Primarily office-based, with routine visits to vessels,
terminals, and docks across the Maritimes.
- Occasional weekend or evening work and overnight travel
required.
- Ability to access all areas of ships and terminals,
including ladders and tanks.
