Position Details\: The AML Associate supports HCCA in executing Anti Money Laundering (AML) activities, including transaction monitoring, investigations, data analysis, and regulatory compliance. This role helps protect the organization from financial crime as a first line of defense for AML by identifying unusual patterns, escalating suspicious activity, and supporting the development and enhancement of related processes, systems, and controls. The position contributes to continuous improvement, ensuring AML workflows, tools, and reporting processes remain efficient, accurate, and aligned with evolving regulatory expectations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct AML transaction monitoring and investigations\: Review alerted transactions, analyze customer behavior, gather supporting data, identify anomalies, and document conclusions. Escalate suspicious activity, assist in Suspicious Transaction Reporting (STR) preparation, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Support AML program enhancements and operational improvements\: Assess workflows, identify inefficiencies, recommend process changes, and automate routine tasks. Document and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure consistency and audit readiness.
- Assist with development, testing, and oversight of AML platforms\: Participate in UAT, evaluate and optimize monitoring queries, validate system enhancements, and help address defects. Provide guidance on responsible use of AI tools in AML processes.
- Reporting, data analysis, and continuous improvement\: Generate AML performance reports, including turnaround times, error rates, and risk trends. Analyze monitoring outputs to identify emerging risks and adapt investigative priorities and process enhancements.
- Collaborate with Compliance, IT, Risk, Operations on AML activities across teams and support regulatory compliance. Contribute to risk assessments, customer risk rating, policy updates, and overall AML governance activities.
- 1–3 years of AML, fraud, compliance, risk management, or financial services experience.
- Prefer related auto finance / captive finance industry experience.
- Experience working with cross functional teams, system enhancements, or process improvement initiatives is an advantage.
- Strong understanding of AML concepts, including transaction monitoring, KYC, CDD/EDD, sanctions, and suspicious activity indicators.
- Knowledge of AML regulatory frameworks is an asset.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problemsolving skills.
- Ability to analyze data sets, optimize queries, and identify unusual trends or risk indicators.
- Familiarity with AML monitoring systems (Actimize, FICO, Minerva, Finscan) is an asset.
- Knowledge of operational excellence, workflow documentation, and process improvement.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with crossfunctional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel; experience with data tools and AIassisted analysis preferred.
- Experience using Defi xLOS/V8.
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s degree required (Finance, Business, Economics, Criminal Justice, Data Analytics or related field preferred).
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong attention to detail, analytical capability, and ability to independently manage investigative tasks.
- Strong ability to interpret data inputs and risk indicators.
- Proficiency with investigative documentation and workflow tools.
