Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Join the team as the Senior Manager, Risk and Control Management RMFI to support the strategic design and execution of the risk and control framework for RMFI compliance safeguarding RBC’s reputation and regulatory adherence in Personal Banking Distribution.  This role is critical to maintaining RBC's robust risk and internal control environment and ensuring alignment with our risk management approach. You will be responsible for supporting RMFI processes, accountable for maintaining risk inventories/registries, designing resilient controls, assessing and monitoring their performance to ensure we maintain results that fall within the risk thresholds established with RMFI, and ensuring continuous improvement in our control framework in accordance with RBC's Internal Controls Management Policy and Standards.

What will you do?

  • Support development and continuous enhancement of risk/control processes across distribution channels to meet RMFI regulatory standards, embedding controls throughout the client/product sales lifecycle.

  • Manage the control lifecycle (design, assessment, monitoring, reporting) to mitigate identified risks aligned with Risk Supervision responsibilities.

  • Develop and maintain the Risk and Control Register within ORMS with comprehensive details: descriptions, objectives, frequency, evidence requirements, and ownership.

  • Ensure control documentation compliance (completeness, accuracy, ICMP/ICMS adherence).

  • Monitor and report control performance/efficacy via KRIs/KPIs, dashboards, attestations, and testing outcomes.

  • Execute project management activities to track progress against control/issue remediation milestones.

  • Escalate material risks/gaps to management and oversee timely remediation of control weaknesses and audit/regulatory findings.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally (GRC IO, RMFI control performers, stakeholders) and document assessment results for Risk Supervisors and relevant parties to highlight execution gaps and emerging risk drivers.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have:

  • 3+ years in Risk Management, Compliance, or Audit within financial services and/or RMFI, with proven expertise in internal control frameworks and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to manage relationships with Risk Supervisors, Risk Owners, and stakeholders.

  • Excellent communication and documentation abilities to clearly articulate control design/operation for internal and external audiences.

  • Proficiency in control monitoring tools (KRIs/KPIs, dashboards, attestation systems) and strong analytical/problem-solving capabilities.

  • Knowledge of financial services audit/regulatory requirements with demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and oversee remediation activities.

  • Precision in governance and documentation across all risk/control activities

Nice to have:

  • Background in Investments/Wealth Management (mutual funds, distribution channels) with knowledge of RMFI operational processes (Rule 1500) and distribution mechanisms (sales, customer journeys, product delivery).

  • Strong understanding of RMFI distribution and operational processes, with relevant industry experience in wealth/mutual funds/distribution channels.

  • Experience in risk/audit functions and control management systems (ORMS or similar), including familiarity with governance frameworks like RBC’s ICMP/ICMS.

  • Project management experience and credentials such as a Bachelor’s/advanced degree or professional certifications (CPA, CIA, risk designations).
