Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

The Senior Manager, IAM Design & Controls will work towards design and control assessment of applications to RBC’s Identity and Access Management solutions in accordance with the IAM strategy and IAM goals.

You'll play a key role in developing and maintaining authentication API endpoints while ensuring compliance with enterprise IAM standards and architectural guidelines. This is an exciting opportunity to work on critical identity infrastructure supporting Royal Bank of Canada's digital ecosystem.

What will you do?

  • Work with business partners and application teams across RBC Enterprise and Brewin Dolphin, to review their changes and ensure they are aligning to IAM Controls through the Athena process.

  • Review and validate architecture documents against IAM standards and established patterns

  • Cross collaborate on identity management initiatives across multiple platforms (Azure, Okta, Entra ID)

  • Investigate and implement endpoint encryption and API security best practices

  • Contribute to policy management and compliance verification processes

  • Provide consultative services to ensure application teams are following RBC Standards.

  • Provide support with tasks and ad-hoc requests as required.

  • Function as point of escalation and resolution for incidents and project related issues.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring within the team to drive optimal performance.


What do you need to succeed?
Must-have

  • 5+ years of extensive in-depth experience with IAM capabilities and solutions

  • Authorization & Security: Solid knowledge of authorization patterns and internet architecture beyond surface-level understanding

  • Web Technologies: Strong understanding of HTTP, TLS, and browser stack architecture

  • IAM Expertise: Hands-on experience with at least one enterprise IAM system (Okta, Entra ID, or Ping Fed)

  • Proficiency with REST API methods (GET, POST, PATCH, DELETE) and HTTP status code

  • Skilled with Sql scripting

  • Strong understanding of authentication protocols (SAML, OAUTH) and experience working with SaaS products

  • Strong understanding of IAM concepts and solutions designs for efficient security controls.

  • Cross-functional collaboration and negotiation with internal teams for effective task completion.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and experience presenting to a wide variety of audience sizes.

  • Ability to shift work hours and be available upon request for the UK time zone when Brewin Dolphin assessments increase.


Nice-to-have

  • Experience with CyberArk, SailPoint IIQ

  • Familiarity with Azure or cloud-based identity providers

  • Experience with policy management systems

  • Data analysis and reporting skills

  • Professional certifications related to information security or information risk management such as CRISC, CISA, CISM, CISSP
