What is the opportunity?
The Senior Manager, Corporate Treasury Markets 1B Governance will ensure a robust Front Office Control Framework for Corporate Treasury (CT) execution desks, including reporting and monitoring so that the business can evidence that it has the appropriate level of Supervision in place that will enable it to reasonably identify conduct issues or practices which leave RBC open to regulatory or reputational risk.
This role will provide Business Management support in the implementation of strategies aligned to our execution business operating philosophy while driving effectiveness and efficiency. The incumbent would be working closely with the various teams across CT to ensure regulatory readiness; and implement adequate cost and risk management, governance, and control environment frameworks.
What you will do?
- Provide advisory support to CT Front Office personnel with respect to industry regulation, legal requirements and internal policies
- Continuous review of existing Supervisory programme to enhance processes, focus on risk-based reviews, and detect and remediate potential Supervisory control gaps
- Accountable for providing senior leaders, as well as CT professionals within each asset class, appropriate levels of insight to ensure awareness of key risks and proper understanding of the rules, regulations and policies
- Work closely with IT and Front Office to leverage expertise and technology where possible, to automate and reduce inefficiencies related to Supervisory reviews, including enhancements to Supervisory Checklists, Dashboards and Management Reporting
- Keep current on regulatory change and internal/external guidance and consider the impact to CT
- Ensure attestation on all Supervisory functions such as book ownership, application access, etc. are performed and completed as required
- Ensure timely completion of Management action plans from risk assessments, internal audits and regulatory reviews
- Foster, develop and maintain strong working relationships with senior functional and business management, including CT Leadership to adequately support the business
- Where appropriate, conduct Front Office training, including dilemma sessions, supervisor expectations, etc.
- Project work will include having an active role in preparing and designing presentations for senior management, creating effective tracking mechanisms for on-going tasks/initiatives to enable business prioritization, delivering processes to provide regular feedback to stakeholders and high level of engagement with larger strategic projects.
- Lead Infrastructure set up and management of this end-to-end process ensuring all approvals are obtained and books and transits are properly created.
- Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business and escalate as per RBC escalation protocols.
- Support the execution desk in maintaining Risk & Controls registers and Issue Management
- Ensure KYC compliance in accordance with internal KYC policies leveraging Fenergo and the various onboarding teams
- Support for Global compliance attestations, Finance attestations (SOX) and broader compliance for the execution desk for e.g., Entertainment Policy, Compliance and Trading certifications
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Finance or related discipline
- Compliance or Risk Management certification or relevant experience
- Strong level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly VBA tools
- Understanding of Risk Management (i.e. market risk, credit risk, liquidity risk, operational risk)
- Strong knowledge of the Treasury business and applicable regulations
- Solid understanding of financial markets
- Proven impact and influence skills to engage cross functional team members
- Ability to take ownership of issues and drive to a successful delivery or outcome, including both tactical and strategic solutions
- Strong and recognized written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and apply creative solutions
- Ability to work under pressure
- Keen attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
Nice to Have
- Trading or sales experience an advantage but not required
- PMP (Project Management)
