What is the opportunity?
The Senior Manager, Business & Performance Management, Transformation & Enterprise Operations (TEO), plays a critical role in running and improving our management routines, enabling data-driven leadership decisions, and supporting TEO to deliver on our strategic ambitions.
The role will consult and advise on business performance improvement opportunities, including service levels, quality, efficiency, and resiliency. Collaborating closely with the TEO senior management team, our operations centres, transformation teams, and reporting & insights teams, you will produce high quality presentation materials that thoughtfully synthesize and present key qualitative and quantitative insights to senior audiences, including Group Head of T&O.
You will be a key member of the TEO Transformation Office (TTO) team, which is accountable for TEO strategy and communications, automation, business performance insights, and data and AI strategy.
TEO is comprised of both vertical operations centres (Payments & Trade Operations, Cash Services, and Finance Shared Services) & horizontal transformation teams, TEO delivers on RBC’s Brand of trust by efficiently managing the movement of money & driving innovation to enable T&O.
This role requires 4 days in office with 1 remote day to help foster a collaborative work environment.
What will you do?
- As the Business & Performance Management lead, you will have direct accountability to support regular cadence of leadership discussions and reviews of the performance of our operating centres, including:
- Produce Business Review Documents (BRDs) to support discussion and decisions with Group Heads, and Senior Management Team, informing tangible management actions
- Partner, and act as the “glue”, with our Operations Centres and Transformation teams across TEO to facilitate an efficient and effective process to produce an integrated view of TEO performance with valuable insights for leadership
- Financial reviews including our App Dev capital investment project portfolio, headcount and resource optimization, and efficiency initiatives
- Consult/advise on performance improvement opportunities across each line of business in TEO, including support for the monthly Management Business Reviews (MBRs) to ensure business performance is well understood, and that teams are enabled with key trends and insights
- Further systematize how we integrate data, information, and metrics to run our management routines, including adoption of AI (leveraging RBC Assist Pro where possible), automation, tooling, and streamlining of processes
- Help define and report on priority programs across our TEO Ops Centres – plan and implement monthly agendas as part of our management routines based on priorities
- Work closely with business leads across TEO to understand and refine their performance metrics – support the metric development process as required
- Lead headcount governance processes in partnership with Finance to support the reporting needs of our headcount for TEO, including approval process with SVP for all of TEO, efficiency target setting and realization, and making informed recommendations
- Act as a strategic storyteller, providing consistency and simplicity in our strategy alignment, priorities, metrics, and risk across a variety of audiences (T&O leadership, TEO SMT, etc.)
- As part of the Business & Performance Management team, support additional business management responsibilities as needed, including contributing to special projects, operational coordination, and cross-functional initiatives to ensure alignment with leadership priorities and organizational goals.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- 5+ years of business and performance management experience within RBC or in a similar setting, with demonstrated experience improving management systems and/or processes
- Experience in Consulting (internal or external to RBC), or similar roles, including developing ‘trusted advisor’ relationships
- Demonstrated ability to create and deliver executive-ready content: high-quality, clear, concise, and impactful content, with advanced proficiency in PowerPoint and strong expertise in visual storytelling
- High level of business and financial acumen
- Comfortable working in ambiguous situations, scoping out work efforts to bring clarity to work effort needed to achieve desired outcomes
- Analytical rigour – able to break down complex problems, synthesize information and use data to inform decisions and strategy development
- Project management and execution experience, especially in defining and executing deliverables in a small team, but with impact and influence across large stakeholder groups
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to develop and nurture strong relationships at every level of the organization, including managing complex stakeholder relationships
Nice-to-have
- Experience developing Technology & Operations strategy, business process reengineering, and/or capacity/resource planning
- Dashboard design and/or development experience, preferably with Tableau
- MBA, or similar education
- Experience with Agile ways of working, and tooling, including JIRA and Confluence
- Working knowledge of RBC Project Management tools such as Planview and MIS
- Experience in Enterprise Operations
