The Team

The COO group is key to the functional core of RBC Capital Markets' trading activities, driving greater efficiency, scalability and control within operational processing.

Within the Business Architecture & Product Management team, we shape and advance the COO transformation roadmap through a holistic lens encompassing people, processes, data and technologies. We partner closely with IT partners to articulate a clear vision for the future of our business and drive towards it through emerging technologies including artificial intelligence and agentic systems.

What will you do?

As an Senior Manager of Business Architecture & Product Management, a typical day might include the following:

  • Strategy development and transformation planning across technology and business domains.

  • Functional capability modeling and ownership, including AI-enabled process optimization.

  • Roadmap development and prioritization, balancing near-term delivery with longer-term technology evolution.

  • Thought leadership on AI, machine learning, agentic AI systems, and emerging technologies impacting capital markets operations and competitive landscape.

  • Business case development, opportunity analysis, and investment materials incorporating technology ROI and risk assessment.

  • Design and ownership of client journey elements, enhanced through intelligent automation and data insights. Identifying improvement opportunities across COO functional teams and researching, evaluating and recommending technology solutions including generative AI applications.

  • Managing cross-functional technical and business teams to architect, build, test and continuously deliver solutions—from proof of concept through production deployment.

  • Collaborating with software engineering and data teams to guide technical implementation using modern SDLC practices and DevOps methodologies.

  • Presenting strategies to senior management and stakeholders, communicating vision, roadmaps and securing executive alignment. Reporting on project status, milestones and achievements against defined KPIs.

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in Finance, Engineering, Science or Mathematics

Additional Capabilities & Skills Needed:

  • You have expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word, Visio, etc.)

  • You have experience in applying the latest AI toolset to your day-to-day workflow 

  • You have experience in different job functions across the SDLC

  • You are highly capable of learning new things quickly

  • You have experience and are comfortable presenting to senior executives

  • You have experience in Management Consulting, Technology, or related field

  • You have a broad knowledge of Capital Markets

  • You have at least a bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of proven experience in financial services

Nice to Have

  • Relevant, strong experience in capital markets operations and financial processing, particularly in areas undergoing digital transformation.

  • Deep understanding of industry trends in digitization, automation, and intelligent systems; familiarity with enterprise software providers and vendors in this space.

  • Experience applying business architecture principles to design end-to-end solutions.

  • Strong product leadership skills with a track record of owning multi-year project portfolios end-to-end and delivering measurable business value.

  • Demonstrated experience with Agile methodologies, frameworks and tooling (JIRA, Confluence, Azure DevOps).

  • Practical experience or strong foundational knowledge/curiosity in artificial intelligence, machine learning, or large language models (LLMs) and their applications in financial services or operations.

  • Experience architecting or implementing agentic AI systems—systems that can autonomously execute workflows and decision-making across business processes.

  • Understanding of responsible AI principles, explainability, and governance considerations.

  • Experience with modern cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization/deployment practices.

  • Proven background in management consulting or similar strategic, transformation-focused roles. Exposure to technology risk, compliance frameworks, and regulatory considerations in capital markets environments.
