Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Join RBC's HYCiO Governance team as a Senior Lead, Metrics Design & Reporting Specialist, Splunk —a pivotal role driving enterprise governance through data and analytics. You'll architect our metrics framework, designing and operationalizing KPIs, KRIs, and KCIs that enable data-informed decision-making and strengthen risk management across the organization. Blending deep technical expertise with cross-functional leadership, you'll design end-to-end analytics solutions, and influence governance strategy across our organization.

What will you do?

  • Establish and operationalize KPIs, KRIs, and KCIs that align with strategic business objectives and enable continuous performance monitoring
  • Monitor key metrics and risk indicators in real-time, partnering with technical teams to maintain performance within defined thresholds
  • Translate data insights into actionable recommendations that drive measurable business improvements
  • Apply advanced statistical and analytical techniques to extract value from structured and unstructured data sources
  • Design interactive dashboards and reports using modern visualization tools to support informed decision-making
  • Identify and interpret trends and patterns within complex data environments to uncover business opportunities and risks
  • Evaluate and implement emerging technologies to build scalable, future-proof analytics solutions
  • Deliver end-to-end analytics solutions that anticipate and address evolving business requirements
  • Ensure all solutions meet enterprise standards for robustness, maintainability, and scalability

What do you need to succeed

Must Have

  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences (leadership, engineering, risk, compliance)
  • Communicate findings and recommendations effectively to non-technical stakeholders through both written and verbal channels
  • Present data-driven analysis in a way that drives informed decision-making across organizational levels
  • Apply critical thinking to analyze ambiguous, multi-faceted technical challenges and decompose them into structured, actionable solutions
  • Extract meaningful, data-driven insights and recommendations from large, complex datasets
  • Design dashboards and reports that translate data into compelling, decision-enabling narratives
  • Hands-on experience with enterprise visualization and reporting tools (Splunk, ELK, Tableau, or equivalent)
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages (SPL, Python, Scala, Java, or equivalent) with ability to write clean, maintainable code
  • Solid foundation in relational database design, querying, and optimization
  • Experience with NoSQL data stores and understanding of appropriate use cases
  • Familiarity with workflow orchestration tools (Apache Airflow, Prefect, or equivalent) for automation and data pipeline management

Nice to have

  • Background in large enterprise organizations, particularly in Financial Services or Regulated Industries
  • Familiarity with financial services operations, compliance requirements, or risk management practices
  • Exposure to internal audit processes, external regulatory examinations, or compliance assessments
  • Understanding of cloud security, scalability, and cost optimization principles
  • Knowledge of industry control frameworks (CIS Controls, CSA, NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0, OSFI B-13, or equivalent)
  • Experience translating framework requirements into technical controls and measurable metrics
  • Understanding of how data and analytics support audit and compliance functions
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or related field
  • Equivalent professional experience demonstrating mastery of core competencies (certifications, proven track record)
