Global Functions Technology (GFT) is part of RBC’s Technology and Operations division. GFT’s impact is far-reaching as we collaborate with partners from across the company to deliver innovative and transformative IT solutions. Our clients represent  Risk, Finance, HR, CAO, Audit, Legal, Compliance, Financial Crime, Capital Markets, Personal and Commercial Banking and Wealth Management. We also lead the development of digital tools and platforms to enhance collaboration.

The Financial crimes – AML IT team is undertaking multiple complex regulatory initiatives as part of RBC’s Financial compliance requirements. In this role you will be responsible for strategically planning and managing successful implementation of the above mentioned.  The role will coordinate, develop, lead, communicate and execute activities to ensure objectives are accomplished according on time.

What will you do?

  • Designing and coding application programs; performing testing for developed applications.

  • Reviewing, analyzing, and modifying programming systems, including encoding, testing, debugging and installing for a large-scale system.

  • Ensuring the operating efficiency of existing application systems. Maintaining records for the documentation of systems development and revisions.

  • Conducting analyses of organizational needs and goals for the development and implementation of application systems.

  • Present technical topics at regular meetings. Specifically, describing any new projects, the challenges on those projects, and the approaches taken to implement solutions

  • Working with more junior developers in creating prototype applications for stakeholders

  • Evaluate new processes and assess whether they will be a good addition to the tech stach

  • Code review, security review and remediation of critical vulnerabilities

What do you need to succeed? Must-have’s

  • BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent with 4-6 years of experience in at least one backend framework such as Java (Spring, Spring Boot, etc) NodeJS (Express, etc).

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • 4+ years of experience in at least one frontend framework such as Vue, React, NextJS, Angular, etc

  • Experience deploying applications to a cloud platform (Kubernetes, OCP, Azure, etc).

  • Knowledge of DevOps concepts and tools (git, GitHub Actions, Sonar, etc).

  • Knowledge of databases (SQL or NoSQL) and knowledge of data storage, transformation and manipulation.

Nice-to-have

  • Experience supporting applications in a productions environment.

  • Experience working with Generative AI systems.

  • Experience supporting and maintaining APIs.
