What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll join our Governance Risk and Controls team reporting into the Director, Risk, Governance and Controls. As a Senior Consultant Governance, Risk & Controls, you’ll work in growing area of the bank that manages operational risk, regulatory supervision, standardized testing, loss management, Global Technology, Data and AI. As part of the Governance & Controls team you’ll consult on material, systemic and emerging risks and support the implementation of integrated control improvement solutions across technology and distribution channels. In addition, you will be accountable for providing consultation on the development, analysis and implementation of process changes or other activities which support our partners achieve their strategic objectives while achieving compliance with the data management policies and standards. You’ll provide support of CIBC’s Control Framework to ensure compliance to regulatory, legislative, and operational requirements, including the efficient and effective management of deficiency remediation. You’ll act as the key relationship manager for the business and provide risk consultation and advise on governance initiatives for Chief Administration Office (CAO) and Global Technology, Data & AI (GTDAI).

How You’ll Succeed
Relationship Management - Relationship manager and collaborative consultant with business partners and 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defense for all matters relating to operational risk. Manage relationships at peer or director level, as well as project and initiative managers, within the assigned LOB. Represent Risk Governance on LOB initiatives.
Risk Assessment/Risk Consulting - Work closely with LOB partners to proactively identify risk exposures and control gaps. Analyze and synthesize risk exposures, operational losses, root causes and control gaps. Lead the assessment and recommendation of self-assessed deficiencies to mitigate risk exposures and control gaps. Support the Change Initiative Risk Assessment (CIRA) process ensuring all high inherent risks are identified and compliant to the CIBC CIRA process. Acts as the risk and controls Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing expert advice to Line of Business partners. Participate in business, governance and regulatory projects, typically medium to highly complex initiatives, to identify risk and control issues. Support all Internal Audits, Regulatory Compliance Risk Assessments , RCSAs and GORM Reviews for the LOB. Provides consultation on audit scope review & finalization, requests for information, fieldwork support and deficiency management. Provides ongoing risk advisory on management self-assessment processes, issue management, control design and implementation.
Control Framework Design/Execution/Management - Understand and communicate Control Framework requirements to LOB partners to ensure awareness and understanding and impacts. Lead the completion of all CIBC Control Framework requirements, including Risk and Controls Self Assessments (RCSAs), Scenarios and Key Regulatory Indicators (KRIs). Act as the Maintenance Officer for Operational Process Controls (OPCs), Financial Process Controls (FPCs) and Regulatory Compliance Management (RCM) controls. Recommend new/changes to Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities( KAR), eGRC and non-eGRC control testing programs. Review KAR and control testing results and recommend self-assessment of deficiencies. Develop & present Executive Reporting on the governance & controls environment of portfolio LOBs.
Who You Are
You can demonstrate minimum 5 years’ experience and working knowledge of governance, controls, risk management principles, practices, policies and procedures with a background in Technology Audits. Significant experience in root cause analyses and investigative work is strongly preferred. You can demonstrate experience in supporting and communicating Control Framework requirements and support the development of new/changes to controls. It's an asset if you have knowledge and experience in Global Technology and AI.
You demonstrate experience in Retail Banking, Commercial Banking, Capital Markets and Wealth Management products and channels. You understand their key businesses and processes, including account opening, key product delivery processes and back office settlement/fulfillment processes. Extensive knowledge of risk management, audit & regulatory compliance principles, practices, policies and procedures.
