What is the Opportunity?

Join an innovative team as an IT Governance & Controls Specialist in the Cloud Control Engineering team at RBC. In this role, you will play a critical part in managing and enhancing Cloud Key and Non-Key Controls, writing control packages, and supporting the automation of control testing. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about governance, compliance, and cloud technologies.

As a member of our team, you will collaborate closely with Hybrid Cloud & Intelligence Operations, Governance & Compliance Office, Risk, SREs, Platform Engineers, Architects, and Security Professionals. Your contributions will be vital in maintaining and enhancing our program's compliance across an agile framework.

What will you do?

  • Act as a liaison between the Hybrid Cloud & Intelligence Operations, Governance & Compliance Office and technical teams, translating governance requirements into actionable solutions.

  • Implement governance frameworks, policies, and standards to ensure secure and compliant cloud operations.

  • Define and document Cloud Key and Non-Key Controls, including writing control packages and identifying opportunities for automated testing.

  • Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) and metrics, analyzing trends to improve compliance and reduce risk.

  • Collaborate with technical teams and risk management groups across RBC (2LOD and 3LOD) to ensure effective governance practices.

  • Support regulatory readiness by preparing documentation, coordinating responses, and addressing findings.

  • A proactive mindset with a bias for action and ownership, capable of driving work to completion under restrictive timelines.

  • Has creativity, energy, and passion for leveraging technology to transform governance and compliance processes.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Haves:

  • A relevant degree or certification in Risk Management, Compliance, Governance, or Information Security, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 2-5 years of IT controls testing experience; experience with IT risk and compliance frameworks (e.g., CSA, NIST, ISO 27001) practices preferably within financial services industry.

  • Strong experience writing and managing controls documentation, including control packages.

  • Familiarity with audit and regulatory processes, particularly in a technical or cloud environment.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Experience working in a large enterprise organization and/or Financial Sector Institution.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with regulatory compliance programs (e.g., OSFI, GDPR, FedRAMP, HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI) and audit procedures.

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and their impact on governance and compliance processes.

  • Experience with tools like Splunk, Tableau, or similar platforms for data visualization and reporting.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and trends.
