The Opportunity:
We’re looking for an intern to join our Internal Audit team for a 4-month opportunity. The Internal Audit team supports Vancity’s Board and Executive by providing independent assurance, advice, and insights over key risk areas. This role provides hands-on experience to internal audit practices and a unique opportunity to be part of Internal Audit’s exciting journey to accelerate automation that enables stronger oversight of key risks. This opportunity is best suited for candidates with a strong acumen in business and data analytics, and a keen interest in developing and implementing RPA/AI use cases.
The intern will work closely with Internal Audit leaders to help design and improve our data analytics and automation program. The candidate will report into the Senior Manager, Technology Risk and Automation.
A typical day would involve:
- Assisting in the development and execution of data analytics scripts, dashboards, and reports to support Internal Audit’s continuous monitoring program.
- Performing recurring data analysis to identify exceptions, trends, and unusual patterns.
- Documenting monitoring logic, assumptions, and results.
- Assisting in visualizing data, using tools such as Excel, Power BI, or similar analytics platforms.
- Identifying opportunities to improve, automate, or streamline monitoring processes.
- Assisting with quality testing of new analytics or monitoring programs before deployment.

You have:
- Current enrollment or recent graduation from an undergraduate program within an applicable field and eligible for co-op/internship opportunities (i.e. Data Science, Data Engineering, Business Analytics)
- Strong understanding of data structures and data transformation concepts.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- An ability to work with large datasets and identify meaningful insights.
- Proficiency in advanced Excel (e.g., Power Query, Power Pivot, complex formulas).
- Working knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools and languages such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL
- A willingness to work in a highly flexible environment with multiple competing priorities.
- A high level of attention to detail
- Willingness to learn and challenge assumptions
- Professional judgment and discretion

What You’ll Earn:
This role offers a pay range of $27.85/hr.
