Job Description

NOTE: Program starts May 2026

What is the Opportunity?
Group Risk Management within RBC is on a journey to transform the way we work. We recognize that to maintain our position as a global leader in Risk Management, we need to evolve beyond our comfort zone and to unlock the full potential of our people. That’s where the GRM Rotational Associate Program comes in.

We’re offering a program that spans over two years in four six-month rotations within GRM's Market and Counterparty Credit (MCCR) stripe. Rotations span across MCCR teams like Credit Risk, Liquidity Risk, Global Risk Analytics, Market Risk and Counterparty Credit Risk. The program provides Associates with a holistic view of the function so we’re looking for people who want to start and continue to grow their careers in Risk.

Responsibilities

The GRM Rotational Associate Program is unique as you will get to rotate across core part of RBC’s Risk groups, working across multiple programs and disciplines that require divergent skills. As a baseline, you need to have a strong quantitative skillset, but the ideal candidates can communicate well and work through complex and ambiguous challenges independently. You need to be a self-driven, engaged individual that thrives in ambiguity – you love creating value in your own way without the need for supervision. The program is set up to enable you to hit the ground running, with an unparalleled support system: you’ll get dedicated buddy and structured onboarding and training starting from Day 1, along with curated networking events and exclusive time with senior executives. Your day to day will look different in each rotation, but responsibilities may include:

What do you need to succeed?

  • Undergraduate degree/combination of experience that demonstrates mastery of finance, math, computer science, financial engineering, modeling or complex problem solving
  • You love to create smarter ways of doing and visualizing things and are a natural storyteller. You can take big complex ideas with lots of data and turn it into powerful insights that drive action.
  • You’re comfortable leading others without authority and are excited by working in a dynamic business environment where you get to realize your own vision and have ownership in the final output.
  • You are a creative AND analytical thinker that is self-driven, loves to ask lots of questions while challenging the status quo.
  • You have a passion for finance, banking, and risk management.
  • You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and can get your point across in a succinct, story driven way.
  • Leadership acumen and a passion to apply it in a dynamic business environment

What’s in it for you?

  • This is one of the gold star programs within RBC that catapults your career forward by providing exposure, learning, and many chances to make real impact quickly
  • Ownership of challenging work and opportunities to be showcased to leadership
  • Leaders who are deeply invested in your development through coaching and learning opportunities, with committed weekly, monthly and quarterly touchpoints built in
  • Work in a dynamic, collaborative, progressive and high performing team
  • A comprehensive Total Rewards Program including base salary, bonus and benefits
  • Work with complicated financial models used in GRM’s stress testing processes
  • Participate in specialized strategic projects
  • Create/maintain concise and well thought out reports for senior leadership (up to and including RBC board level) and external investor consumption.
  • Foster an environment of engagement by participating in internal/external RBC or Group Risk Management events
  • Engage with partners working on transformative and varied projects from across the organization
  • Work with our senior developers and modelers on Risk based financial models related to stress testing and opportunity sizing processes
  • Ideating and prototyping new processes, tools and capabilities utilizing dynamic data visualization, segmentation and analytics tools
