THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office (PA SHPO) is looking for an Environmental Review, Streamlining Coordinator who enjoys solving problems and helping projects move forward. In this role, you will support agencies as they identify important archaeological resources before construction begins. You will help improve review processes and strengthen how information is shared statewide. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports the review and protection of archaeological resources while helping agencies complete projects more efficiently. You will have the opportunity to assist with data management, process improvements, and coordination with partners across the state. As an Environmental Review, Streamlining Coordinator, you will perform the following duties:

  • Collaboration Work: Work with Commonwealth agencies on developing programmatic solutions to streamline consultation efforts with federal and state agencies
  • Process Streamlining: Help develop and carry out improvements that make consultation and review work more efficient
  • Archaeological Support: Assist agencies in identifying and managing archaeological resources during planning stages
  • Data Management: Participate in building and maintaining a system for digital archaeological collections records
  • Digitization Efforts: Support the creation and use of digital records so information is easy to access and share
  • Curation Assistance: Help with long-term care of archaeological collections and updates to curation guidelines

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, with the exception of site visits/field work, leadership meetings and one day per month in the office in Harrisburg. Specific days will be determined according to bureau needs. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards for History, Archeology, Architectural History, Architecture, or Historic Architecture.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have a minimum of two years of experience in digital records management and data management systems.
  • You must have a minimum of two years of experience in advising and assisting state and federal agencies, organizations, and/or individuals with the consideration of historic properties and archaeological sites in project planning.
  • You must have a minimum of two years of experience in interpreting and applying National Park Service guidance with regards to the evaluation of historic properties for eligibility for listing in the National Register of Historic Places.  
  • You must have a minimum of two years of experience in public speaking and educating the public about the National Historic Preservation Act.
  • You must have two or more years of experience collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to inform business decisions and streamlining processing in collaboration with program partners and leadership.
  • You must have two or more years of experience collaborating with cross functional teams.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.


Preferred Qualifications (not required):

  • Experience working on collaborative team projects and completing independent tasks to implement team goals
