Director, Payment and Trade Operations Supplier Management

What is the Opportunity?

Are you passionate about driving strong, strategic partnerships that fuel enterprise success? We’re looking for a dynamic Director, Payments and Trade Operations Supplier Management (PTO) to lead the oversight, governance, and optimization of some of our most critical supplier relationships – including Symcor and Canada Post.

In this role, you’ll blend strategic thinking with operational excellence to ensure our suppliers deliver value, innovation, and reliability to meet our business needs today and tomorrow. You’ll also lead a high-performing team that manages supplier risk, performance, and financial stewardship across the enterprise.

What will you do? 

• Define, lead and execute on the Strategic Vision to transform our supplier management portfolio.
• Lead a team responsible for end-to-end supplier relationship management and governance.
• Oversee enterprise-level suppliers (including Symcor and Canada Post) to ensure alignment with business strategy, service delivery, and performance outcomes.
• Lead Cross-Platform Transformational Programs to drive digitization and efficiency
• Drive negotiation strategies that deliver financial savings, innovation opportunities, and enhanced service quality.
• Develop and execute governance frameworks ensuring accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
• Build strong internal partnerships with Technology, Finance, and Legal to align supplier management with business priorities.
• Manage supplier risk through strong controls, compliance monitoring, and proactive mitigation strategies.
• Analyze supplier financials and performance metrics to identify optimization opportunities and ensure sustainable value creation.
• Works directly with suppliers/business partners to close gaps.
• Maintain overall knowledge and understanding of RBC’s systems and processes including Supplier Management Policy and procurement.

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

• Extensive experience in Supplier Relationship Management, Procurement, or Strategic Sourcing
• Experience leading and defining Transformative initiatives across the Bank
• Proven experience managing large enterprise vendor and strong capabilities in cross platform partner engagement
• Experience in Supplier Risk/Risk Management and/or Operational Risk highly preferred; Risk and Governance practices, Frameworks and methodologies.
• Leading complex deals with a high contract value.
• Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
• Deep understanding of supplier risks and governance frameworks.
• Exceptional leadership and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
• Strong Business, analytical, and Financial Acumen to assess supplier health, cost structures, and value delivery.
• Project and/or change management experience.
• Strategic thinker who thrives on solving complex problems and driving continuous improvement.
