Job Description

What is the opportunity?

This is a key role within the Legal Entity (Canada) Reporting team, ensuring accurate and complete financial reporting for the RBC subsidiary companies, including the RBC Cost Basis financial statements by establishing appropriate governance and operational mechanisms.   It reports to the Senior Director, Legal Entity (Canada) Reporting, managing a team of 2 to 4 reports. The successful candidate will work to ensure an effective control environment, establish best practices and while providing accounting advisory and support new initiatives.  You will be part of a collaborative team culture that strives to challenge ourselves to be our best, think progressively, and work together to deliver collective results. 

What will you do?

  • Provide thought leadership to drive continuous improvement, challenge existing approaches and influence strategic direction.
  • Establish a target operating model, including standard operating procedures to support the understanding and documentation for subsidiary reporting.
  • Standardize the current reporting process and identify opportunities for automation.
  • Lead projects and act as a change agent, recommending improvements to internal processes and enhancing team efficiency
  • Lead and develop a team of 2 to 4 professionals
  • Accountable for annual internal / external audits where applicable.
  • Lead and mentor the team, ensuring team’s professional development, skill enhancement and goal achievement.

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • Accounting designation – CPA, CGA, CMA
  • 10+ years accounting and finance related experience
  • Excellent accounting & finance capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and the ability to synthesize complex issues and recommend solutions
  • Strong governance and operational coordination skills, analytical proficiency, and knowledge of financial regulations. Excellent stakeholder management and process improvement abilities.

Nice-to-have

  • Excellent knowledge of RBC’s Financial Systems
  • Excellent conflict and issue resolution ability
  • Experience managing change and projects.
