What you’ll be doing

As the Director, Business Controls, you’ll join our Business Controls team reporting to the Senior Director, Governance and Controls Management. CRTex (Client Real-Time Experience) is a strategic program which will enable a highly personalized client experience, through the right channel, through a lifetime journey with products, service and advice that empowers their ambitions. As the Director, Business Controls (CRTex), you will provide comprehensive leadership and oversight for operational risk, governance, and enablement activities across CRTex and related portfolios. You will be responsible for ensuring an effective business operational risk framework, compliance with policies and standards, and robust business controls. Your mandate will include discussing risks with various risk partners and implementing sustainable mitigations to address these risks. You will liaise and influence business groups and Partners across the bank to ensure compliance to policies, standards, and guidelines from a governance standpoint.

How you’ll succeed

  • Governance & Operational Risk – Utilize your proficiency of the governance and risk framework within CIBC and apply this knowledge to independently manage operational risk activities for CRTex. Provide governance, risk, and controls expertise in executing & implementing CRTex pillars and mandate. Implement and maintain sustainable controls to ensure ongoing compliance with policies, standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Stakeholder & Relationship Management – Build and manage relationships with stakeholders at all levels, influencing outcomes and ensuring alignment on governance and operational matters. Keep senior management apprised of material and emerging risks, and recommend mitigation strategies. Utilize effective presentation and communication skills to present clearly and concisely to all levels of the organization.

  • Records & Compliance Management – Ensure strong oversight of all records management activities, attestations, assessments, and associated controls.

  • Ownership & Leadership – Take full ownership of assigned initiatives and deliverables, proactively driving results that align with strategic objectives. Apply and develop creative solutions to complex challenges, considering alternatives and implications.

Who you are

  • You can demonstrate experience. 3+ years' experience in risk management, compliance, business controls, and/or audit function within the financial services industry. Extensive knowledge of risk management principles, practices, policies, and procedures including audit and business controls. It's an asset if you have business project management/project delivery experience.
