What you’ll be doing

As a member of the Brand & Retail Governance team, you’ll lead a high-performing group responsible for overseeing CIBC’s brand standards and guidelines, as well as retail-owned channels and client-focused communications. As Director, Brand & Retail Governance, you’ll shape and elevate CIBC’s brand presence by owning and maintaining global brand guidelines, tone of voice standards, and brand architecture frameworks—ensuring consistency in how CIBC presents itself visually and verbally across all channels and geographies, both externally and internally.

You’ll drive the strategy and messaging calendar for retail-owned channels and lead client communications through strategic email marketing initiatives. By delivering strategic support, guidance, and brand advocacy across the bank, you’ll position your team as trusted advisors and partners. Your leadership will ensure a cohesive and meaningful brand experience throughout the enterprise, making a lasting difference in how CIBC is perceived.

You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. Details on your work arrangement will be discussed at the time of your interview.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategic Leadership- Serve as a strategic expert and advisor for CIBC’s brand standards. Develop and implement innovative strategies to drive adoption and consistent usage of the brand visual system and tone of voice across all touchpoints. Assess and recommend new approaches to safeguard, protect, and grow the brand’s presence.

  • Retail-Owned Channels- Oversee the strategic approach for brand and marketing messaging within CIBC’s retail environment. Balance enterprise business priorities, brand consideration objectives, and a strong client experience. Monitor and evaluate brand representation and client experience in retail environments, measure success against objectives, and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Direct Communications-  Oversee the design and delivery of engaging direct marketing communications to clients, driving brand consideration and demonstrating CIBC’s purpose.

  • Governance and Compliance- Provide oversight and governance for the CIBC brand, including management of enterprise trademarks, templates, disclaimers, and documented standards.Ensure all brand activities align with enterprise standards and compliance requirements.

  • Team Leadership-  Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team. Foster a culture of cross-functional collaboration, accountability, a performance mindset, and continuous learning.

  • Stakeholder & Vendor Management- Build strong relationships across the enterprise and with external partners. Ensure effective collaboration and that all vendor relationships meet contractual and governance obligations.

Who you are

  • You have a minimum of 8 years’ experience in brand marketing or related roles, ideally within financial services.
