What is the opportunity?

As a Director within the RBC GFT Group, you will lead the strategy, planning, governance, and value realization for AML, Fraud and Law IT area.

This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on execution, driving portfolio planning and governance while collaborating with senior executives, finance, and business leaders to shape executive decisions, define performance frameworks, and ensure AI initiatives deliver sustained enterprise impact.

What will you do?

AFL Leadership Governance

  • Role-Based Resource Planning: SDLC (e.g., development, testing, deployment) to maintain accountability and expertise.
  • FTE% Alignment: Distributing FTE capacity across Vancouver, Halifax, Toronto, and Offshore
  • Governance & Oversight: Establishing clear governance frameworks to monitor resource utilization
  • Learning, Upskilling & Development: Integrating training programs to upskill resources, align with evolving role requirements.

Financial Governance & Capacity Alignment for AFL Projects

  • AI Productivity Challenge
  • Variance Minimization - Maintain year-end variance within ±3% of the approved plan through proactive monitoring and corrective actions
  • Capacity & Cost Optimization -Align resource allocation (FTE, contractors) with project demand to avoid over/under-staffing.
  • Governance & Transparency - Standardize cost/capacity reporting templates for consistency and auditability.

Vendor & Contract Governance for AFL: Ensuring Compliance, Efficiency, and Partnership

  • Contract Compliance & Governance - Maintain all vendor contracts in alignment with GFT COO team’s governance framework
  • Financial Accrual Integrity - Manage accruals meticulously to ensure clean books for the AFL function
  • Resource Allocation & Recovery - Allocate and recover ITAS resources strictly per contractual guidelines
  • Timely Milestone Payments - Process vendor milestone payments on time to strengthen RBC-vendor relationships.
  • Performance & Feedback Loop - Establish a structured feedback mechanism (e.g., bi-monthly reviews) to align vendor deliverables with business expectations

Enhance AFL engagement through leadership forums, governance meetings, partnering with different stakeholders across function.

Collaborate with Executives: Act as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders to help them drive best results for the function and to work closely with the GFT-COO and finance control team to ensure end results are met.

What do you need to succeed?

You operate comfortably at the intersection of strategy, finance, and execution. You bring structure to ambiguity, influence senior stakeholders, and turn complex data into clear decisions.

Must-have:

  • 5-10 years in strategy, transformation, consulting, or financial services leadership
  • 5-10 years experience in portfolio or program management
  • 5-10 years experience working with executives, including governance deliverables and, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and bridge divergent views.
  • Financial and business acumen, with a track record of driving strategic outcomes, managing complex budgets and maintaining strong financial governance
  • People management experience and ability to foster high-performing teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Innovation Mindset: Passion for Financial mgmt., vendor mgmt. and AI tools usage to ensure best dashboards are being presented at all levels of management.
  • Experience in employee engagement strategies and large-scale communication for internal teams.
  • Advanced analytical skills for data-driven decision-making in portfolio and financial management.
