What you'll be doing

As the Consultant, Data Reporting and Process Governance, you will build strong relationships within Enterprise Data and across Strategic Business Units (SBUs) and Functional Groups (FGs), supporting the advancement of enterprise data risk reporting and governance processes. You will manage the entire lifecycle of data risk KPI and KRI metrics—from data risk identification, metric definition, approval, reporting to ongoing oversight—by defining calculation details, supporting threshold identification, and ensuring clear visual presentation for key audiences such as Executive Data Governance Councils and the CIBC Board. Additionally, you will conduct periodic reviews to keep metrics aligned with evolving business and regulatory needs, support the creation of enterprise-level metrics, and establish aggregate calculation methods. Your responsibilities includes translating the vision of the Data Risk Dashboard to requirements, managing the requirements backlog and collaborating with the Enterprise Data Management team responsible for implementation.

A key aspect of your role will be creating and maintaining supporting documentation for governing processes including frameworks, methodologies, guidelines procedures within Enterprise Data and in collaboration with SBUs and FGs. You will ensure documentation is accurate, accessible, and compliant with enterprise standards, following a structured lifecycle that includes stakeholder identification, planning, drafting, review, approval, publication, and ongoing maintenance. Collaboration with stakeholders across enterprise is essential to support the development and management of metrics, reporting solutions, and governance processes. Success in this role requires a strong foundation in mathematics or statistics, experience in metrics creation and reporting, and proven skills in process documentation and governance.

How you’ll succeed

  • Apply Quantitative Analysis to Metric Development- Leverage strong mathematical and statistical knowledge to support the identification and design of new metrics. Contribute to defining calculation logic, ensuring metrics are methodological sound and capable of providing meaningful insights into data governance risk trends.
  • Support the Development and Reporting of Metrics (KPI/KRI)-Contribute to the design, development, and implementation of data risk and performance metrics across the enterprise. Support metric piloting, reporting and threshold monitoring process to ensure accurate and consistent evaluation of data risk, and assign in identifying and escalating metric breaches where appropriate.
  • Communicate Insights Effectively- Translate complex data and analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for executive and senior leadership audiences. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills to present information and enable informed decision-making. Build and Maintain Strong Relationships within the Data Community: Foster collaborative relationships across the enterprise data community, engaging with Strategic Business Unit Data Governance teams to promote understanding, collaboration and adoption of enterprise data risk metrics and reporting practices.
  • Facilitate Stakeholder Engagement and Alignment- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather input, validate metric definitions and calculations, and ensure documentation reflects business requirements. Support the socialization, review, and approval processes required for the adoption of enterprise metrics and related documentation.
  • Maintain Strong Process Documentation Governance- Support the development, formalization, and maintenance of all supporting documentation, ensuring all documentation accurately reflect current practices. Ensure all documents are reviewed, approved, and maintained in accordance with enterprise standards and audit requirements.
  • Drive Continuous Improvement in Metrics and Reporting- Identify opportunities to enhance reporting capabilities, governance processes, and metric frameworks. Contribute to the ongoing evolution of metric to ensure alignment with changing business priorities, regulatory expectations and data risk management practices.

Who you are

  • You have 5+ years of experience  in data analysis, data governance, data quality management, risk management or a related analytical discipline with a strong quantitative mindset. Experience supporting enterprise data governance or data risk reporting programs is highly valued. You demonstrate proficiency with data repositories and analytical tools such as PowerBI, SharePoint, Excel or similar platforms. You hold a Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics, Engineering or Computer Science or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • You act as the Product Owner for the enterprise data risk dashboard by communicating the vision, documenting the requirements and managing the backlog to support the technical implementation of the dashboard in PowerBI.
  • You are organized and detail-oriented in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities while maintaining strong attention to accuracy, documentation and governance standards.
  • You are passionate about collaboration and build strong relationships across the data community and work effectively with stakeholders across teams to support the development, adoption and ongoing management of enterprise data risk metrics.
  • You value structure and documentation with your experience in developing, formalizing, and maintaining process documentation and metric definitions using structured guidelines and templates. You ensure documentation remains accurate, current, and aligned with enterprise governance standards and audit expectations.
