WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

Capital Markets Technology (QTS) has embarked on a major transformation program to modernize how data is produced and consumed both within and outside the line of business.   The initiative spans functional pillars including pre-trade, trade processing, risk, data intelligence, operations across all asset classes globally.  This role will serve as the lead architect for this initiative, providing pivotal leadership to drive and define target state architecture, working closely with senior business and technology stakeholders. The position is a Director level role based in Toronto and involves working closely with teams in New York, Toronto, and London.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Lead requirements gathering across all areas of the business to ensure the problem being solved is well understood and clearly documented.
  • Leverage deep cross product domain knowledge, working with SMEs to produce a data architecture that delivers the outcomes agreed.  This includes defining data models, format, content, transport, enrichment, storage, distribution, and governance.
  • Drive convergence to a consensus across asset classes and functions from SMEs to senior leadership.  This will require communication tailored to audience.
  • Prepare and maintain project artifacts to track the different initiatives aligned with architecture objectives, i.e., roadmap, resources, cost, benefits, and clear status/accomplishments.
  • Take an active role providing teams direction during implementation, committing them to deliver against overall transformation targets and timelines.
  • Monitor to ensure teams deliver on target, escalating issues proactively, and presenting alternatives to mitigate impact. 
  • Role is 70% functional, 30% technical

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have

  • 10+ years’ data or development experience in Capital Markets technology organizations
  • 5+ years’ experience in a solution / domain architecture role with focus on Capital Markets data and/or technology
  • Very strong understanding of data architecture
  • Very strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others
  • Deep markets domain knowledge including the full trade lifecycle front to back across multiple asset classes.
  • Proven track record in driving architecture transformation in large organizations beyond direct reporting lines
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of data and prepare summary analysis

Nice-to-have:

  • Deep understanding of capital markets products
  • Experience with cloud architecture
