Job Description
What is the opportunity?
This is a front-office role embedded in the commercial core of our Macro Trading franchise. We are looking for an Associate-level Business Manager who operates as a strategic contributor to the desk, someone who drives execution, delivers results within a high-performing team, and grows into the kind of integrator that shapes how a franchise runs, competes, and evolves.
The successful candidate will bring knowledge across Rates, Foreign Exchange, Commodities, and Futures, combined with an engineering mindset and a bias toward building. You will sit at the intersection of commercial strategy, technology, and delivery, working alongside senior Business Managers and Business Heads to ensure that Operations, Technology, Risk, and Finance are aligned to the business strategy and positioned to accelerate it.
You will contribute with impact, drive workstreams, and own deliverables. If you understand how a desk makes money, want to learn how capital gets consumed, are excited by how technology can compress friction, and believe AI can fundamentally reshape workflow, this role was built for you.
This is a position designed for someone early in their career who wants to grow into a senior Business Manager or COO-track role. You will be mentored by experienced leaders, given meaningful exposure to strategic decision-making, and trusted with increasing responsibility as you develop.
What will you do?
Funding & Product Knowledge — Support the business management function across Macro Funding, developing fluency in how funding dynamics interact with Rates, FX, Commodities, and Futures positioning. Build your understanding of balance sheet consumption, capital efficiency, and P&L drivers through direct exposure to the desk and its senior leadership.
Digital Enablement & AI — Contribute to the adoption of AI, automation, and modern tooling into trading workflows. Identify potential use cases, help shape product requirements, and partner with engineering teams to support delivery of solutions that create measurable commercial impact. You do not need to have led an AI deployment, but you need foundational experience and a genuine drive to build with these tools.
Strategic Execution — Support the translation of business ambition into implementable roadmaps. Contribute to governance frameworks, initiative tracking, and performance management across the Macro franchise under the guidance of senior Business Managers and Business Heads.
Cross-Functional Coordination — Act as a connective thread between Macro Trading and Technology, Finance, Compliance, Risk, Operations, and Legal. Ensure these functions are aligned to front-office priorities, escalate blockers with clarity, and drive follow-through on deliverables.
Performance & Commercial Intelligence — Build and maintain the analytical infrastructure that gives leadership visibility into franchise performance: revenue trends, efficiency metrics, client penetration, and resource deployment. Surface insight that drives decision-making and sharpens the commercial edge of the franchise.
New Business & Franchise Development — Support the identification and execution of new revenue opportunities, product adjacencies, and structural improvements that expand the commercial reach of the Macro platform.
Risk & Controls — Proactively identify operational risks, control deficiencies, and process failures. Escalate with precision and support resolution in coordination with risk and control functions, treating sound governance as a commercial imperative.
Regional Execution — Support trade floor initiatives in Canada, ensuring local priorities are integrated into the Global Markets strategy.
What do you need to succeed?
Domain Exposure — Knowledge of Macro products with interest and growing familiarity across Rates, FX, Commodities, and Futures. You understand the fundamentals of how these desks generate revenue and are motivated to deepen that understanding rapidly.
Engineering & Quantitative Foundation — Technical or quantitative degree (engineering, computer science, AI, mathematics, physics, or equivalent). You think in systems, are comfortable with code, and approach problems with analytical rigour.
Technical Skills — Strong proficiency in Python, Excel, and PowerPoint. Comfort with data tools, automation frameworks, and modern development practices. You spend meaningful time in these tools and they are central to how you work.
AI & Automation Interest — Foundational experience or strong demonstrated interest in AI, machine learning, or automation within a financial services or analytical context. You bring product thinking, the instinct to ask how something should be built, not just what needs to be done.
Commercial Awareness — You operate with an emerging sense of P&L dynamics and client franchise logic. You are curious about why things matter commercially and actively seek to understand the bigger picture.
Early-Career Capital Markets Experience — experience in Capital Markets, ideally in Front Office, Trading Technology, Quantitative Strategy, Product Control, or a role with genuine proximity to commercial outcomes. Consulting backgrounds are considered where product depth and analytical intensity are evident.
Communication & Presence — You communicate with clarity and confidence across levels of seniority. You are comfortable engaging with strong personalities. You ask sharp questions and deliver with precision.
Growth Orientation — You are intellectually hungry, coachable, and motivated by the trajectory this role offers. You want to learn from senior leaders, take on increasing responsibility, and build toward a career in front-office business management or COO leadership.
