Job Description

What is the opportunity?

As a Business Analyst for Automation in RBC Capital Markets, you will assess, research, analyze and document sponsor/stakeholder needs in relation to Capital Markets COO Group’s projects with particular emphasis on Intelligent Automation techniques (gen-AI) in conjunction with traditional approaches such as RPA (Robotic Process Automation).  You will help identify where, how and why intelligent automation can satisfy sponsor/stakeholder needs. This role will provide assistance with mapping business processes and procedures in order to effectively engineer automated solutions.

The successful incumbent would be required to: Assist with the identification of automation opportunities within RBC CM COO Group; Analyze current state processes and provide suggestions for process re-engineering and technology implementation to improve efficiency and controls; Filter out technically or economically infeasible processes by gathering baselining information and pragmatically surfacing inhibiters to automation; Qualify opportunities and create high-level business cases with complexity and implementation cost; Prepare and consolidate technical and business requirements documentation; engage program leads of Digital Transformation programs to aid planning or preparation for transformative initiatives; Effectively communicate and build rapport with team members, stakeholders, and business partners using a variety of techniques and collaboration from initiation to close.

What will you do?

  • Support the organization’s AI strategy by encouraging adoption and driving engagement across teams

  • Think through challenging and interesting problems and overcome them through creative solutioning with your team

  • Assist in analysis and requirements gathering on multiple in-flight projects simultaneously in accordance with the RBC Project Management Framework (PMF)

  • Analyze workflow processes and recommend the best application of automation-centered solutions

  • Understand technical aspects of automation to guide business teams in the transformation of manual processes

  • Facilitate communications between Automation Developers and Business Stakeholders

  • Work closely with Subject Matter Experts and other project stakeholders to deliver automated solutions

  • Achieve and maintain highest levels of client satisfaction

  • Manage project communications in various forms (Presentations, Calls, JIRA, etc.) including status reports to Program Leads and Business Stakeholders

  • Be a technology advocate and share expertise with other team members

  • Work with Automation Developers to delivery RPA using Blue Prism and AI (gen-AI, LLM etc.)

  • Take ownership and accountability of project delivery by defining, tracking, and reporting on the benefits of automation

What you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • At least 2 years of professional experience Business Analyst working with automation, process re-engineering, or software development projects

  • Ability to apply Systems Thinking Approach in all facets of the job

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written, including presentation skills to different levels of management

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience in Finance, Engineering, Science or Math desirable

  • Strong curiosity and enthusiasm for AI and emerging technologies, with a desire to continuously learn and experiment

  • Familiarity with Gen-AI tools and application of automation techniques and concepts such as Robotic Process Automation

  • Experience in quickly understanding new business processes to accurately assess feasible scope of automation and document process flows

  • Experience in business and/or process analysis

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently

  • An Agile mindset and team player

  • Ability to effectively plan and execute on multiple priorities and in-flight projects simultaneously while adhering to deadlines and quality standards

  • Strong Math skills to ensure benefit calculations are sound of logic and accurate

  • Ability to fluently communicate with both Automation Developers at a technical level and Clients on a business level

  • Above average skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Access etc.)

  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders across the enterprise

  • Good working knowledge of Capital Markets COO Group functions and processes
