The Opportunity:
First National’s AML Department is responsible for establishing and implementing a robust compliance program which is managed through the implementation, monitoring, and testing of internal AML controls, policy and procedure development, and through the ongoing training of First National employees.
The Residential AML Associate Analyst is responsible for supporting the AML team with the anti-money laundering and anti-terrorist financing screening process and supporting the AML Senior Manager with additional projects. This role requires attention to detail, strong decision-making skills and an ongoing focus on quality and timeliness.
How you will contribute:
Review potential matches against Canadian and international lists of sanctioned individuals and entities via our screening platform
Assess the impact of positive matches, via our screening system in accordance with AML policies and procedures
Compile, verify, and sort data to prepare source data for computer entry
Input data into database systems
Conduct periodic searches for third parties
Monitor effectiveness of screening framework and identify areas of improvement
Investigate and adjudicate AML investigations generated by our transaction monitoring system and other lines of business
File FWR reports to FINTRAC
Prepare reports based on data and disseminate reports to appropriate business units
Completes special projects as assigned by AML Senior Manager, AML Assistant Manager, or Senior AML Analyst
The experience you need:
Minimum undergraduate degree and/or equivalent work experience required
Genuine interest in AML
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
Knowledge of customer service principles and practices
Experience working in a fast-paced, structured, and team-based environment
Ability to work independently
Possesses sound decision-making abilities
Bilingualism (French, English) an asset
Working Environment and Physical Demands Analysis:
Office environment
Periods of high volume with tight timelines
Long periods of stationary position/sitting
Prolonged periods of repetitive movement (i.e. using a keyboard and mouse)
Long periods of time in viewing a computer screen
Multi-tasking may include speaking to customers on a telephone call while looking up information on a computer program.
