What you’ll be doing  

When you join our Career Programs as an AI Scientist in the Technology Leadership Advancement Program (TLAP), you’ll join a team that continues to push CIBC as the market leader in innovative technology to make our clients’ ambitions a reality. TLAP is a 2-year rotational program with three 8-month rotations and offers flexibility for you to carve a path that aligns with your personal and professional development as a future technology leader in CIBC.

The Advanced Analytics and AI team is the centre of AI excellence within CIBC and is leading the way in applying the best practices in predictive science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, leveraging the latest technology and platforms.  As an Associate AI Scientist, you will have an individual contributor (IC) role driving strategic direction through collaboration with Data Science, Engineering and Product leaders across CIBC. You will play a crucial role in developing, improving, and exploring the capabilities of AI and Generative AI models.

As an AI Scientist, your rotations will be within the Artificial Intelligence teams at the bank, like Advanced Analytics Delivery & Artificial Intelligence, AI Enablement, AI Platforms & Solutions teams etc. 

In addition to the day-to-day rotation work, you will have access to your Rotation Manager, Program Manager and an Executive Mentor to advance your professional development by receiving tailored career guidance and opportunities to expand your network. With the help of your mentors, you will be part of a vibrant community of talented professionals who are pursuing their rotations and will be your initial network as you expand your career with CIBC. The various internal TLAP committees will provide you with an opportunity to pursue your interests and passion projects while simultaneously contributing to the development of the TLAP community.

Important information

• You have completed or in last semester of your Masters in Machine Learning/ AI/ Data Science

• You have graduated in stem related undergraduate degree

• You have a minimum of prior 2-years of work experience as an AI developer

• Work Location: Toronto

• Available start dates: August 2026

How you’ll succeed

• AI Model Development & Research – Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and optimize AI and Generative AI models that address complex business challenges.

• Strategic Collaboration – Work closely with Data Science, Engineering, and Product leaders to align AI initiatives with CIBC’s strategic direction.

• Rotation Engagement – Participate in rotations across various AI-focused teams, gaining exposure to diverse projects and technologies within the bank.

• Professional Development – Leverage mentorship from Rotation Managers, Program Managers, and Executive Mentors to advance your skills and career trajectory.

• Community Contribution – Engage with TLAP committees, contribute to passion projects, and help foster a vibrant and inclusive TLAP community.

Who you are  

• You have strong technical expertise. You bring at least 2 years of hands-on experience in machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence, working with technologies such as Python and R.

• You hold advanced academic credentials. You have a Master’s degree in Data Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.

• You’re a collaborative contributor. You thrive in cross-functional environments, working with diverse teams to solve complex problems.

• You’re adaptable and eager to learn. You embrace new challenges, technologies, and opportunities for growth, especially in a rotational program setting.

• You’re passionate about innovation. You’re excited to explore and advance the capabilities of AI and Generative AI within a leading financial institution.
