Based in our offices in Victoria, British Columbia, and reporting to the Director, Operations, the Analyst will be part of a team dedicated to developing in-house solutions for the Capital Markets & Credit Investments department. The Analyst will primarily assist in providing actionable insights by developing and implementing tools and solutions for a variety of stakeholders within Capital Markets & Credit Investments.
The Capital Markets & Credit Investments (CM&CI) department manages C$165 billion of capital markets and credit investments (56% of total net AUM of BCI). The assets are managed through a variety of Credit, Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives and Absolute Return Strategies. The department invests globally with investment teams located in BCI’s global offices (i.e., Victoria, Vancouver, New York and London). As a leader in responsible investing, the department actively integrates ESG factors into investment analysis and decision-making processes.
The Operations Group, a team within Capital Markets & Credit Investments, provides operational foundation for departments’ existing strategies while being a strategic partner to the various investment teams in the exploration of new value-add strategies for our clients. The team is the key interface with internal and external business partners and stakeholders in the execution of Capital Markets & Credit Investments business priorities.
Undergraduate degree in business, statistical, mathematical or other related discipline
1-2 years of experience in Capital Markets and/or Credit Investments, including relevant internships
Professional designation such as CFA/CAIA, is an asset.
Proficiency in Python and SQL, is an asset.
Demonstrated ability with front end visualization tool such as Tableau, is an asset.
Strong communication skills and the ability to adapt messaging according to the audience.
Proactive attitude, interest in investment management, dedication to hard work, commitment to the highest ethical standards, and an eagerness to learn and progress.
Develop and enhance tools: Build Python and SQL solutions for various investment strategies within Capital Markets & Credit Investments
Ensure accuracy and quality: Evaluate the model’s quality and accuracy related to investment strategies, identifying and resolving discrepancies
Support Operations infrastructure: Troubleshoot issues from various data sources
Respond to stakeholder needs: Address ad hoc requests from Capital Markets & Credit Investments teams as well as other departments within BCI
Contribute to team priorities: Support additional Operations initiatives and projects as assigned by the Director, Operations
This role will be based in our downtown Victoria, BC office
The annualized base salary range for this Victoria-based role is CAD $77,000 - $93,000.
BCI offers a competitive total rewards package, including a performance-based incentive plan, comprehensive health & dental benefits, a defined benefit pension plan, and paid time off. We pay our people competitively in the markets in which we operate and with consideration for internal equity and job structure. The base salary will consider factors such as the individual's skill set, experience, and internal equity. We aim for actual pay to be around the market median for expected performance and the upper quartile for excellent performance. Actual salaries may vary based on experience and expertise.
