Education

Minimum Required\:

·       Bachelor Degree

·       3·5 years of experience in privacy and/or AML compliance, preferably in financial services.

Preferred\:

·       Certification in CAMS, IAPP/CIPP/C, or similar is an asset.

Experience

Minimum Required:

·       Demonstrated knowledge of Canadian privacy laws

·       Understanding of Canadian AML/ATF and Sanctions regulatory requirements as well as FINTRAC Guidelines.

·       Understanding of policy development or participate in the development of strategies on privacy protection.

Preferred\:

·       Experience with AML monitoring systems (e.g., Actimize, Verafin).

·       Managing privacy risks in the collection, use and disclosure of Personal information (PI)

·       Demonstrated experience and competency to identify and evaluate emerging privacy issues, changes, and trends.

Skills

(Qualification, Certification, or Professional Designations)

Minimum Required:

·       Excellent analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

·       Basic experience using MS Excel and Power Point.

·       Excellent teamwork, interpersonal (written and verbal communication) skills, and proactivity to build cross-functional business relationships and trust amongst all internal and external stakeholders.

Preferred\:

·       Bilingual - French is considered an asset to support translation.

VWFS Canada is seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Compliance Specialist to join its Legal team. This role is responsible to assist the General Counsel for ensuring the organization adheres to Canadian privacy laws and AML/ATF (Anti-Money Laundering/Anti-Terrorist Financing) regulations, including those set by FINTRAC. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, risk management, and data protection best practices.

Key Responsibility:

Privacy Compliance:

·       Monitor and ensure compliance with federal and provincial privacy laws (e.g., PIPEDA, Quebec Law 25).

·       Assist in conducting privacy impact assessments to assess the management of personal information and advise on data protection strategies.

Review new processes system to ensure compliance with applicable privacy laws and industry standards. Be present to support or facilitate regulatory or customer inspections in all areas of business across the business units

·       Proactively revise and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with evolving regulations and organizational needs; collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify gaps, implement updates, and drive awareness through engaging, up-to-date training initiative.

·       Respond to data subject access requests.

·       Remain current with concepts, guidelines and regulations pertaining to privacy topics.

Anti Money Laundering (AML) / Anti-Terrorist Funding (ATF) Compliance

·       Monitor transactions and customer activity to detect suspicious behavior, promptly investigate anomalies, and report qualifying transactions to the CAMLO in accordance with regulatory timelines.

·       Maintain and enhance AML/ATF policies and procedures to reflect current legal requirements and industry best practices. Establish procedures for customer identification and due diligence protocols for effective risk management and regulatory compliance.

·       Remain current with concepts, guidelines and regulations pertaining to compliance topics.
