Job Description

What is the opportunity?

Direct Investing is a key growth initiative within RBC Wealth Management, enabling clients to build personalized investment portfolios with direct access to equities, ETFs, and alternative investments. The Direct Investing platform represents RBC's commitment to democratizing wealth management and delivering innovative, client-centric solutions.

We are seeking a Project Manager / Delivery Lead to join the Direct Investing business to drive the successful delivery of Direct Investing initiatives. This role is responsible for leading the delivery of transformation initiatives at RBC Direct Investing, a leading-edge digital investment business undergoing significant transformation. The successful candidate will lead project execution across assigned initiatives, directing all aspects of project delivery with strategic oversight, while maintaining awareness of business strategy and key objectives.

You will work alongside product leaders, engineering, marketing, compliance, legal, risk and business stakeholders to navigate complex dependencies, remove delivery obstacles, and champion a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on RBC's digital transformation and help millions of Canadians invest with confidence.

What will you do?

  • Own delivery accountability for Direct Investing initiatives, leading projects across Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid environments

  • Execute planning and delivery of programs and deliverables, ensuring business objectives are achieved within approved timelines, scope, and budget

  • Champion governance and execution assurance by establishing strong delivery processes, integrating project plans, and aligning outcomes with business goals

  • Drive cross-functional communication, providing transparent progress updates to leadership and facilitating alignment across product, digital, technology, marketing, compliance/legal/risk, and business teams

  • Remove impediments and dependencies through proactive problem-solving, critical thinking, and collaborative engagement with internal and external partners (vendors, RBC IT teams, business units)

  • Manage schedules and risk by identifying early warning indicators, escalating issues promptly, and developing contingency plans

  • Oversee project financials and staffing, ensuring efficient resource allocation and tracking value delivery for informed decision-making

  • Coach and develop team capability by establishing strong working relationships, promoting joint accountability, and building influence across technical and business units

  • Build and present reporting for management stakeholder reviews, including project status, financials, and key metrics

  • Ensure quality and integration by completing risk assessments and verifying that initiatives are effectively embedded into RBC procedures and processes

What do you need to succeed?

Must-have

  • 5+ years of project delivery management experience in Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, or hybrid environments, ideally in financial services, fintech, or complex data/technology environments

  • Proven ability to manage high-visibility projects with third-party vendors and significant technology components

  • Advanced communication, presentation, and facilitation skills with demonstrated ability to influence across organizational levels

  • Hands-on proficiency with Agile workflows (milestones, critical paths, product and sprint backlogs, release burndown)

  • Strong technical fluency with project management tools (Jira, Confluence, SharePoint) and related methodologies

  • Experience managing projects involving complex dependencies, data processing, or transactional systems

  • Strong knowledge of change management, risk management, and Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

  • PMP Designation, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or equivalent certification

  • Demonstrated ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and adapt delivery approaches as needed

Nice-to-have

  • Experience in Direct Investing, wealth management, capital markets, or investment platforms

  • Familiarity with RBC systems, processes, and organizational structure

  • Background in Finance, Risk, or Compliance technology initiatives

  • Experience building and mentoring high-performing delivery teams

What's in it for you?

  • Leadership support for your professional development through coaching, mentorship, and learning opportunities

  • Make a meaningful impact by delivering products that enhance the client experience and drive RBC's strategic growth

  • Work in a dynamic team with progressive, high-performing colleagues who celebrate successes and share learnings

  • World-class training in financial services and investment platforms

  • Flexible work arrangements supporting a healthy work-life balance

  • Career progression with opportunities to take on progressively greater responsibilities and access to diverse roles across RBC

  • Collaborative culture where innovation is encouraged and diverse perspectives are valued
